AGRANA refines agricultural resources into food and industrial products in its three business segments: Fruit, Starch and Sugar. The company has 9,000 employees and operates 55 production facilities globally. The company is the world market leader in fruit products and the most important producer of fruit juice concentrates in Europe and a major producer of customized potato, corn and wheat starch products in the Starch segment, as well as bioethanol. AGRANA is the leading sugar supplier in Central and Eastern Europe.

Examine objectively and thoroughly

To manage the numerous digital projects and application requests, AGRANA decided to implement the principle of app modernization, which includes low-code as one of its pillars. In an exchange with Südzucker, the Austrian company became aware of Simplifier and, based on the use cases already implemented at Südzucker, gained initial insights into the potential usage of the low-code platform. A neutral evaluation of different options was important to AGRANA. Therefore, different platforms were compared, evaluated and put to the test in trials and pilot projects.

Ranging from simple applications to international projects

After the implementation of the low-code platform, the interest in applications within AGRANA increased rapidly. Due to the ease of use, the complexity and scope of the applications quickly increased. The first use case realized was an application for incoming goods inspection for truck deliveries. Currently, a commissioning app is in the creation phase, which will increase the level of complexity even further.

In addition, a comprehensive concept is being implemented that includes up to 15 applications in warehouse management. Among other things, the planned applications will replace existing scanner transactions for stock transfers or partial quantity splits for storage units or containers.
