Wuerzburg, 07 December 2021 – Wuerzburg-based software manufacturer Simplifier and Oldenburg-based IT company BTC announce the acquisition of the Netzportal solution by BTC Business Technology Consulting AG. It is based on the low-code platform developed by Simplifier with the same name. The acquisition enables BTC AG to further expand its competencies and team strength in the field of digital asset management for the energy market. Simplifier, on the other hand, will focus exclusively on its core product and the associated licensing business, thus focusing the company’s strategic orientation on its low-code technology expertise. Both companies’ management boards signed the deal in Wuerzburg, Germany, on November 24. The business processes will be transferred to BTC on January 1, 2022.

BTC and Simplifier have already been working together on customer projects involving the Netzportal for years. During this time, the partners were able to impress renowned utilities with the versatility and added value of the portal. Integrated into the structures of the utilities, Simplifier and BTC were able to consistently continue developing the portal in cooperation with the customers. Furthermore, Simplifier’s low-code platform was established as an key component of utility customers’ digitalization strategy and the importance of the platform on the path to more efficient and resource-saving processes was made clear.

Strategic added value for both companies

Both Simplifier and BTC have decided to hand over sovereignty over the Netzportal solution to BTC in the course of further partnership cooperation in order to continue to drive the development of the Netzportal solution forward in the best possible way and to unleash its potential. As a result, BTC will take over the Netzportal solution, the net portal customers and the employees of the Netzportal expert team from the first of January 2022.

The acquisition of the Netzportal solution will create completely new chances and opportunities for Simplifier, BTC as well as the teams of both companies. On the one hand, Simplifier will be able to focus more on its core business and invest in continuous product and business development. On the other hand, the experienced Netzportal team will be able to continuously refine the Netzportal and the related services. In cooperation with the customers, the Netzportal 4.0 is going to be continuously developed in and adjusted to the rapidly changing market conditions in the future. Moreover, BTC is able to strengthen and expand its own competencies and capacities in the area of digital asset management for the energy market.

“We want to support all customers on the platform both with our Netzportal solution in a competent manner and beyond that with our integration know-how and service expertise.”

Lars Austermann, Managing Director Energy, BTC

“The solution perfectly complements our energy management portfolio. We want to continue to grow as a company in relevant markets and also expand our Germany-wide locations with Würzburg.”

Dr. Jörg Ritter, CEO, BTC

“The acquisition of the Netzportal solution by BTC is a win-win situation for both parties. Alongside our focus on our core product and the continuous expansion of the Netzportal by BTC, the intensification of this strategic partnership is a crucial benefit. Simplifier and BTC customers will benefit from this in equal measure and will be supported in the best possible way in the implementation of digitization projects by both a competent full-service provider and an innovative low-code provider.”

Reza Etemadian, CEO and Co-Founder, Simplifier

The Netzportal solution

The Netzportal handles all relevant steps for an effective application process, from connection request to commissioning, and also serves as an internal and external portal for communication with market partners. The portal solution is based on Simplifier’s low-code platform and enables utility customers to register for electricity, gas, water and district heating conveniently and remotely via the portal. In addition, utilities benefit from automated workflows which, for example, automatically transfer status values and action data to the higher-level ERP system.
