Modernizing SAP On-Premise – with Clean Core & Side-by-Side

Stay flexible in any SAP constellation – now and in the future

Show-stopper SAP On-Premise?

Certainly not! Because whether you use SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA on-premise: With the Simplifier digitalization platform, your SAP core remains stable at all times. Everything that brings innovation is simply implemented outside.

Typical customer view:

Uncertainty & pressure to make decisions

star

"Do we have to switch to SAP RISE or S/4 Cloud now?"

star

Fear of compliance and security risks when continuing operations

star

Budgets flow into support & licenses – not into visible improvements

star

Departments wait, IT secures operations instead of innovation

Core message:
Modernization ≠ Migration. With side-by-side, you secure investments in new processes – regardless of whether you later switch to the cloud or another system environment.

Advantages of Simplifier for SAP on-premise modernization

Clean Core & Side-by-Side: Modernize where it creates value – and keep the SAP core stable and updateable.

Clean Core & Upgrade Security

No risky interventions in the core. Extensions, UX, workflows and integrations run side-by-side – so updates can be planned and the core remains SAP-compliant.

    • Less release stress
    • Lower risk of obsolescence
    • Architecture remains manageable

Reusable investments

Processes and applications that you build side-by-side today remain usable – even if the SAP operating mode (on-prem → hybrid → cloud) changes later.

  • Protection against re-investment
  • Portability of processes
  • Freedom of choice

Innovation today, decision tomorrow

Bring modern UX, automation and AI into your landscape – without a big-bang transformation and without vendor lock-in due to short-term pressure.

    • Faster implementation
    • More departmental benefits
    • Reduced external dependencies

What exactly does side-by-side mean?

With side-by-side development, SAP systems are expanded in a future-proof and flexible manner without jeopardizing the maintainability of the core. Typical scenarios for this are, for example

  • the development of Fiori apps that access SAP data but require special logic
  • the integration of external data (e.g. from Salesforce or weather data) with SAP processes
  • the creation of mobile apps for warehouse workers.

In side-by-side development (definition in SAP Learning), the extension is not permanently extension is not permanently integrated into the ABAP code of the SAP ERP, but is an independent application. Data is exchanged between the extension (on the BTP) and the SAP core via standardized interfaces (REST APIs, OData). As the application runs externally, updates and enhancements can be carried out without disrupting the operation of the core system or forcing complex regression tests in the ERP.

Typical dead ends that you should avoid:

star

ABAP in-house developments that complicate upgrades

star

Single-point solutions that create silos and shadow IT

star

"Wait and see" strategy with innovation backlog

star

Complexity build-up due to unrelated individual solutions
