The task of making good use of existing resources while at the same time moving innovation forward is one that particularly challenges small and medium-sized enterprises. The need for future-proof digitisation is pitted against limited resources. Magnet-Schultz addresses this challenge by implementing Simplifier. The low-code platform is being used to drive the development of Fiori applications.Â

MAGNET-SCHULTZ GmbH & Co. KG is an international, family-run company group with 2,650 employees. As specialists for electromagnetic actuators, sensors and valve technology, the company develops and manufactures individual high-tech solutions for hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics and for the commercial vehicle and automotive industries. The portfolio of the family-owned company is used in a wide range of applications, e.g.: in the control of automatic transmissions, in valves for mobile and stationary hydraulics, in medical technology as well as in a variety of solutions for different industries. In all of this, Magnet-Schultz constantly focuses on quality, sustainability and know-how. These principles also have to be reflected in the company’s internal business applications, which is why the specialist decided to introduce the low-code platform Simplifier.
Limitations of Fiori development
The ambition for innovation is anchored in Magnet-Schultz’s corporate history and is actively lived within the company. Therefore, the development and implementation of business applications will continue to be driven forward. The previous classic development of SAP Fiori apps requires a great deal of time and expertise. The comparison to other tasks and activities of the respective experts clearly shows potential in the effort/benefit ratio.
When evaluating alternative solutions, future security, increased efficiency and innovation security were the main decision criteria, so that the topic of low-code and explicitly the Simplifier platform came into focus in order to master the existing challenge.
Optimal technology and excellent cooperationÂ
In addition to the future-proof nature of the used technology, performance, fast implementation and a balanced price-performance ratio were decisive for Magnet-Schultz. After the first meetings with Simplifier, it was already clear that the low-code platform met these requirements. The final decision for cooperation and implementation was confirmed during a reference call with an existing customer of the low-code provider. Magnet-Schultz was able to independently ask for experiences, advantages and potentials and obtain an objective opinion on the platform.
“Simplifier offers us the possibility to develop business applications quickly and efficiently with the expertise available in the company. At the same time, the interaction with SAP is excellent: we have the Fiori look & feel and can easily integrate the platform into our SAP system landscape. The entire development team was quickly convinced that we could achieve our goals and break new ground with Simplifier. Therefore, the decision was quite easy for us as a team.”
“The positive feedback on our technology means a lot to us. It shows that we are living up to our own claim of developing state-of-the-art software. But we are also very pleased with the feedback that the support and onboarding are more than satisfactory. After all, in addition to the platform itself, working together as partners is extremely important to us.”
Collaborative application development
Right from the evaluation phase, the specialist departments were actively involved in the process alongside the web developers and SAP programmers, and the low-code platform was well received by all. The participation of the specialist departments is still planned within the agile work processes in the concept and requirements definition and replaces the classic process model with requirements and specifications. Although the technical creation of the applications is still the responsibility of IT, the various areas can now provide feedback on their requirements and wishes in a more targeted manner in agile mode. The developments and adjustments based on Simplifier can be implemented faster and more efficiently.
“Our first use case is an application for incoming goods, which is intended to digitalise the process and enable tasks to be processed directly on site and mobile. At the same time, we already have many wishes and areas of application for which applications are also conceivable. Here, it is helpful that Simplifier has an extensive partner network and a variety of use case templates that support us in the creation and implementation as needed.”
