In this year’s Gartner® “Market Guide for Multiexperience Development Platforms”, Simplifier was listed as a “Representative Vendor”. In this blog series, however, we want to provide more insights. In the first part, we look at the report, MXDP in general and why our platform is both a low-code and an MXDP platform. In the second part, we look at our MXDP vision and why working in partnership is essential for us.

Gartner Market Guide

The market research and consulting company Gartner is one of the world’s leading companies in its field. With their in-depth market expertise, companies can select the right provider for their specific use cases. The regularly published Market Guides are a research method used by Gartner to analyze emerging markets and provide information on their status. They serve as a guide for purchasing decisions and offer insights into the key competencies of providers on the market.

The recently published “Market Guide for Multiexperience Development Platforms” offers not only a selection of 28 representative vendors, but also an analysis of essential MXDP features, use cases and recommendations for decision makers to make an informed decision when selecting and implementing MXDP. Accordingly, inclusion in the report is on the one hand a confirmation of the reputation and popularity of a provider and on the other hand an implicit proof of the product quality of the product.

Definition MXDP

MXDP is the abbreviation for “Multi-Experience Development Platform” and describes platforms that cover and centralize the entire application lifecycle of applications. Such platforms are used to design and develop, test, deploy, manage, maintain and analyze multi-experience applications that offer multimodal interactions (touch, voice, gestures) on multiple devices along the user journey across multiple touchpoints. The goal of MXDP is to create customized, user-centric, targeted applications with a consistent user experience across all devices and touchpoints (smartphones, tablets, wearables, chatbots, AR / VR).

But how are MXDP and low-code connected?

As a subset of MXDP, low-code platforms focus on the creation of such applications based on visual tools and configurations. They thus accelerate application creation and enable citizen development, resulting in a shorter time-to-market.

The report from Gartner shows: “Multiexperience development platforms (MXDPs) and low-code application platforms (LCAPs) are popular technologies for enterprise application development. Gartner predicts that the MXDP market will reach $4.7 billion by 2025, with a compound annual growth rate of 19.5% from 2020 to 2025, while the LCAP market will reach $14.4 billion, with a growth rate of 26.4%.” MXDP and LCAP (Low-Code Application Platform) are therefore the most important and promising platform types within the low-code market.
