Simplifier at UI5con 2026: When AI Takes Over Testing

On July 14, 2026, Simplifier was back at the event—this time with a presentation showing just how far the combination of low-code, SAP Fiori, and artificial intelligence has already come.

UI5con is the community conference for the SAPUI5 and OpenUI5 developer community. Once a year, hundreds of developers gather at SAP in St. Leon-Rot to discuss the latest developments in UI5, learn from one another, and work together on the future of the platform. It’s free, community-driven, features a livestream for anyone who can’t attend in person, and offers a program that reflects the pulse of the SAP development community.

This year, Simplifier wasn’t just there as a spectator. Christopher Bouveret, CIO and co-founder of Simplifier, and Andreas Dallner, Head of Product Management, were there in person to network—and with them was a colleague who made a forward-looking statement on stage.

The Presentation: AI Meets Test Automation

Jennifer Häfner, a developer at Simplifier, presented a topic at this year’s UI5con that addresses exactly the challenge many development teams face on a daily basis: testing SAP Fiori and UI5 applications.

“From Clicks to OPA5 Tests: AI-Powered Test Generation for Fiori Apps”

Anyone who has ever written OPA5 tests knows the challenge. OPA5 (One Page Acceptance) is the standard framework for functional testing in SAPUI5 apps. Powerful, structured, reliable. However, the tests must be written manually. This requires precise selector logic, clean Given-When-Then structures, and constant maintenance whenever the UI changes. Especially with future UI5 upgrades, selectors can break—and then you have to start all over again.

In her presentation, Jennifer Häfner introduced an approach that radically reduces this effort: AI-powered test generation directly from user interactions.

From a Click to a Test

The idea is as elegant as it is effective. Instead of writing tests manually, the UI5 Test Recorder first records a user’s actual interactions within the app—clicks, inputs, and navigation. This raw data is then processed by an AI component: Simplifier’s generative AI cleans up the recorded interactions and automatically generates clean, standardized OPA5 test code in the Given-When-Then pattern.

The result: test code that’s ready to use right away, without a developer having to write every line themselves.

Specifically, this means the following for teams:

  • Significantly less manual development effort is required when creating integration tests
  • More Consistent, Readable Test Code Through AI-Driven Standardization
  • Greater test coverage without a proportional increase in time required
  • More robust testing, because the approach is structurally designed to accommodate future UI5 upgrades
Why This Is Relevant for Simplifier Customers

Among other things, Simplifier has made a name for itself as a low-code platform for Fiori apps—a highly cost-effective solution that enables companies to build their own SAP applications faster and with less traditional development effort. The approach that Jennifer Häfner presented at UI5con adds a new dimension to this platform’s logic: AI not only handles app development but also quality assurance—one of the key focus areas of the Agentic AI automation platform Simplifier.

Those who develop Fiori apps with Simplifier benefit in two ways: faster development and faster, more reliable testing processes—without requiring in-depth OPA5 expertise in every team. But this isn’t just a theoretical promise—it’s a real tool that Jennifer Häfner presented on one of the most prestigious UI5 stages, in front of an audience of experienced SAP developers who understand the demands of day-to-day work. It’s no coincidence that Simplifier was represented at the executive level by Christopher Bouveret and Andreas Dallner. UI5con isn’t a marketing event, but a gathering of the developer community where companies demonstrate how seriously they take the technical substance of their digital solutions. Here, it’s not PowerPoint slides that count, but arguments. For Jennifer Häfner, at any rate, it was a special moment. And for Simplifier, it was further proof that innovation doesn’t just happen in product brochures, but on stages, in code, and in real conversations with the community.
