AGRANA uses Simplifier: Digital development through low-code solutions

2 min read

Companies that have grown continuously and constantly expanded their IT infrastructures are particularly challenged. This is because the implementation of the numerous application requirements, the further development and digitalization of the company can no longer be implemented with traditional programming and the available resources. AGRANA is therefore continuing its successful corporate strategy together with Simplifier and is relying on low-code to create business applications.

AGRANA processes agricultural raw materials into food and industrial goods in its three business segments Fruit, Starch and Sugar. The company has 9,000 employees and operates 55 production sites worldwide. It is the global market leader in fruit preparations and the leading producer of fruit juice concentrates in Europe and, in the Starch segment, a major producer of customized potato, corn and wheat starch products as well as bioethanol. AGRANA is the leading sugar company in Central and Eastern Europe.

Objective testing through its paces

To manage the numerous digital projects and application requirements, AGRANA decided to implement the principle of app modernization, which includes low-code as one of its pillars. The Austrian company became aware of Simplifier through discussions with Südzucker and gained initial insights into the potential applications of the low-code platform based on the use cases already implemented at Südzucker. A neutral assessment of the various options was important to AGRANA. Various platforms were therefore compared, evaluated and put to the test in trials and pilot projects.

Clearly convinced – Simplifier fulfills essential requirements

“Simplifier is the only platform that offers a native RFC connection and SSO (single sign-on) end-to-end for all SAP interfaces.

– Sascha Fuchs, Team Leader Development and Interfaces, AGRANA

From simple applications to international projects

After the implementation of the low-code platform, interest in applications within AGRANA increased rapidly. Due to the ease of use, the complexity and scope of the applications quickly increased. The first use case to be implemented was an application for checking incoming goods for truck deliveries. A picking app is currently in the development phase, which will further increase the level of complexity.

In addition, a comprehensive concept is being implemented that includes up to 15 applications in the area of warehouse management. Among other things, the planned applications will replace existing scanner transactions for stock transfers or partial quantity splits for storage units or containers.

“We quickly recognized the opportunities Simplifier offers us and want to use these benefits throughout the company to drive forward our digitalization and further optimize our processes.

– Doris Thanner, Change Manager, AGRANA

Further use of applications with Simplifier is planned throughout the Group.
