In order to make processes more efficient, optimize them and structure them for the future, companies in a wide range of industries are rethinking their digitalization strategy. In this context, they need solutions to implement their plans quickly, cost-effectively and easily. One of these companies is the Preh Group, an international automotive supplier in the fields of electromobility, car HMI and commercial vehicle HMI. Its digitalization strategy is being implemented sustainably with the help of Simplifier’s low-code technology.
Preh, based in Bad Neustadt an der Saale, develops and manufactures innovative operating systems for passenger cars and commercial vehicles as well as control units for electric and hybrid vehicles. Preh’s customer base includes well-known car manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM, Porsche and Volkswagen.
Path to the right platform
The Preh Group relies on a high level of vertical integration in-house, including for internal software and application development. Employees can incorporate their expertise directly into software and application development, with a simultaneous focus on speed, connectivity and SAP integration capability.
The original plan was to use SAP on-board tools such as the Fiori Launchpad to implement the required applications. In coordination rounds, the Preh Group was convinced of the advantages of Simplifier’s low-code platform – such as the wide range of possible applications, easy implementation and a significant increase in efficiency.
Start of collaboration with Simplifier
An on-site meeting in December 2020 finally revealed the possibilities for Preh when implementing the app using low-code technology. One of the requirements for the inventory app to be implemented was to scan a QR code on a workpiece, load the existing data from the SAP system and display it on a smartphone. Under conventional conditions, it would have taken an estimated ten man-days to achieve the same result. By using the Simplifier platform, however, the application could be implemented as an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) app, ready to run and functional, on the same afternoon.
Unleashing further potential
The introduction and onboarding of Simplifier’s low-code development platform began with the enabling process in June 2021. As a result, the inventory app will be further expanded. In addition, further potential is being explored as part of the customer success journey and in collaboration with customer support – applications at store floor level are also being considered for the future.
Jürgen Orf, Head of SAP & Applications
“The fast and uncomplicated implementation impressed us and reinforced our decision to choose Simplifier as the optimal solution platform for implementing our strategy. In addition to the obvious increase in efficiency and optimization of the digital structures, the reusability of the applications created was particularly impressive. Apart from the problem-free connectivity to the existing SAP ecosystem, this was a decisive factor for us.”
Christoph Seitz, IT Systems Analyst SAP at Preh
“The collaboration with Simplifier was very promising right from the start. To this day, we communicate openly and directly with each other, which has enabled us to very quickly establish a basis of trust for our collaboration. Now we want to use the low-code platform to further develop our potential and know that with Simplifier we have the right technology provider at our side to drive our digitalization strategy forward.”
