Scoring points through digitalization even in times of crisis

4 min read

SWO Netz GmbH has already done its homework in advance in favor of the digital processing of process data: With its grid connection portal

The example of SWO Netz GmbH shows what it can mean to be optimally prepared for remote work in difficult times, such as the current coronavirus crisis. With a digital 360-degree solution, it has managed to digitize all necessary grid connection processes. This allows all employees to do their job 100% independently of their usual workplace even in times of crisis and continue working without restrictions.

All digital

The grid connection process at SWO Netz GmbH, including the integration of all necessary backend systems (SAP, Lovion, D3 develop AG, etc.), had already been completely digitized in an internal digitization project.

The decisive factor for SWO employees with the digital solution: the customer application for a grid connection can be processed from A to Z in paperless form via the grid (connection) portal and associated follow-up processes can be initiated at the “push of a button” thanks to complete system integration. All forms are available to the customer as digital forms on the SWO Netze website and can – as is customary nowadays – be filled out completely digitally and uploaded to the grid portal together with the grid connection application. The subsequent house connection planning can then be entered directly on the PC by the SWO employee and the data can be forwarded to the necessary systems via the interfaces used, such as ERP CONNECT. Even the internal construction order, as well as the necessary coordination processes, are completely digital.

“The intention of doing this was not necessarily to be prepared for times of crisis or remote working. Right from the start, the focus was on creating a paperless office. Nevertheless, we have created the best conditions for the work of the future, whether for home office or remote work arrangements. Or even for exceptional situations that present us with the challenge of continuing to do our job without restrictions. This is exactly what we benefit from today,” says Karl-Heinz Kasel, Head of Customer Connection at SWO Netz GmbH.

Great added value for everyone involved

SWO speaks of a digital 360-degree solution that offers added value for everyone involved. From applying for a house connection to commissioning, everything is mapped on the basis of a standardized digital solution. Every authorized employee of SWO Netz GmbH is thus able to access each individual application, gain an overview, check the current status and initiate further steps. This ensures that all applications can be processed promptly and smoothly.

Conclusion

SWO Netz GmbH has managed to digitize a necessary process to such an extent that all relevant information is recorded digitally and transferred to the right systems from the moment the customer applies for a grid connection and SWO employees receive the necessary transparency about customer data and process status in all subsequent steps. This is the only way to ensure that processing can be carried out completely, smoothly and without media discontinuity at all times, that the process status is kept up to date and that no data is lost. The low-code platform has significantly helped to simplify the complexity of the portal with all the necessary system integrations during the creation process and at the same time offers the option of adapting the portal solution to changing requirements at any time.

“Thanks to the complete digitalization of our previously largely analogue processes, we are ideally prepared. This means that we can continue to make our contribution, especially in the current situation and the associated restrictions in the entire working world. Thanks to the holistic grid portal solution, which was implemented on the basis of Simplifier low-code technology, we are able to process the grid connection process completely digitally from a planning and commercial perspective, explains Karl-Heinz Kasel.
