Freight cost inquiry (Franz/Sissi)

Problem

  • Felix Schoeller works with an external logistics service provider for international shipping, which means that individual prices for various types of freight have to be requested time and again
  • Previously, this process was organized in an extensive Excel file
  • Managing the multi-layered data in the complex Office document turned out to be time-consuming and not very clear as a result

Solution

  • The so-called “Franz/Sissi” app has completely replaced the Excel-based process
  • The interface logic from the Excel file that all employees are familiar with was recreated with Simplifier and expanded to include additional functions, such as data retrieval from SAP ERP
  • Now the requests are made in the “Franz” app and automatically forwarded to the responsible employee at the logistics service provider, who can answer the request in the “Sissi” app with an offer

Impact

Process streamlining, error prevention and a motivating, witty name for the app.

The app gives employees a good overview of the applications and an extra function alerts them to similar requests in good time to save them duplicating work. Employees also need little time to get used to the app because it is based on the familiar interface logic of the Excel spreadsheet.
