To meet these challenges, it is essential to democratize the creation of applications. Departments should be directly involved and expert knowledge should be used efficiently. However, this is only possible with the right technology and the right partner. JAB JOSEF ANSTOETZ KG has recognized the need for democratization and implemented it in its digitization strategy – for successful practical implementation, the traditional company relies on the low-code platform Simplifier.

Traditional company focuses on innovative concepts
The renowned textile publisher from Bielefeld not only combines tradition and innovation in its products. The company’s digitization strategy combines the use of existing expertise with innovative approaches and modern technology. Fiori apps are an important part of this.
In our company, the potential and benefits of Fiori apps were quickly recognized. Consequently, the demand for them is very high. At the same time, we face the challenge that the capacities for implementation are limited.
This resulted in the establishment of a key user community, consisting of employees from all departments, and the implementation of the self-service approach for the specialist departments. The goal of the initiative is to enable the employees involved to develop Fiori applications independently in their departments in the future, so that the IT experts only have to finalize the complex processes.
Here, low-code fits perfectly into our digitization strategy: The departments can independently create the required applications, time-consuming coordination is eliminated and we save valuable time.
The right low-code platform at the right time
Although the implementation of a no- or low-code platform was firmly anchored in the digital strategy, JAB was not yet in the evaluation process when the first contact with Simplifier took place. However, even in the initial discussions, the mid-sized company recognized the potential of the low-code platform and the fit with its own strategy. Based on the possibility of the self-service approach, consisting of the democratic and modular application creation, the compatibility with SAP as well as the possibility to develop Fiori apps in an uncomplicated way, the decision was made both quickly and easily.
We recognized Simplifier’s innovation potential from the very first points of contact and knew that this was exactly the right solution for us. The momentum was ideal, which is why we made the decision for Simplifier’s low-code platform significantly earlier than actually foreseen in our roadmap.
With Simplifier, we can significantly increase the speed of application development and distribute the workload across multiple employees. In the future, the key user community can directly support the IT department in Fiori app creation and work effectively with the platform.

In addition, the ability to create applications in a modular fashion and make data available greatly facilitated the decision-making process. Due to the diverse business areas, it is important for JAB ANSTOETZ to provide different contacts with relevant data in the appropriate form and level of detail. With Simplifier, this is possible in a straightforward manner, streamlining daily processes and increasing transparency. The associated potential was a decisive factor for the start of the collaboration.
Next steps together
Currently, the development of key users and the testing of established processes is in full swing. In this way, JAB is creating the basis for efficient collaboration between employees, even across departmental boundaries. Once the enablings are complete, the self-service concept is to be rolled out across the entire company and the creation of the desired apps, some of which have already been registered, is to be tackled.
