For this reason, the world’s leading manufacturer of geared motors, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS, decided to introduce the low-code platform Simplifier to optimize master data and change management.

Since 1965, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS develops, produces and sells gear technology with today approx. 4,700 employees and is one of the leading international full-range suppliers in the industry. In addition to standard gears, NORD also supplies application-specific concepts and solutions for special requirements, for example with energy-saving drives or explosion-proof systems. Annual sales in fiscal year 2021 amounted to 870 million euros. NORD has 48 of its own subsidiaries in 36 countries and additional sales partners in more than 50 countries. These provide technical advice, on-site stocking, assembly centers, and customer service. NORD develops and produces a diverse range of drive solutions for over 100 industries.
Optimal integration to SAP
In the course of retiring existing applications in the context of master data and change management, Getriebebau Nord focused on compatibility with SAP. In the future, a simple and reliable data transfer should be guaranteed in order to carry out updates centrally and in an uncomplicated manner. In addition, the company attached importance to the intuitive and user-friendly creation and operation of the planned web applications. In the search for a suitable low-code platform, Simplifier was able to convince the company within a short time.

Efficient Leverage of Employee Expertise with Low-Code
The gear motor manufacturer deliberately opted for low-code when selecting a platform for application development. In conjunction with the company’s existing employee expertise, Getriebebau Nord recognized the potential of the technology to drive the development of web applications efficiently and in a way that conserves resources.

Fast application creation
Getriebebau Nord is currently planning to implement five applications in the area of master data and change management with integration into the SAP system. The first application is to be implemented as early as November. After completion of the applications already planned, further applications with workflow character and integration in SAP, such as recording of investment requirements, are to be implemented. In addition, mobile apps in production are also conceivable, which will consolidate existing solutions on a single platform.
